I'm Emma Woodthorpe and thank you for finding my page.
I'm an illustrator and children's author living in Sheffield, England. I grew up on the blustery North West Coast of England, where the mountains meet the sea. I have loved drawing and storytelling for as long as I can remember, eventually studying English Literature (First Class BA Hons) and Literature Studies (MA) at York St John University.

I'm Emma Woodthorpe!
My debut children's picture book Our Dave will be published in September 2020.
OUR DAVE
“In the cat shelter sat a poor black and white cat, through the window he stared at the rain...”
Our Dave by Emma Woodthorpe is a beautifully illustrated rhyming children's picture book that tells the rags to riches tale of a very special cat in desperate need of a new home.
The story follows his journey after being abandoned by his old humans, from battling his loneliness in the cat shelter, through to finding a sense of family and belonging in his forever home.
Our Dave is aimed at independent readers of 5-7 years old, and is also designed to provide interest to pre-readers through the enjoyable rhyming pattern and accompanying illustrated pictures.
The story of Our Dave picks up the topics of feelings and emotions, loneliness, family, animal rescue and belonging, and can be used as a starting place for conversations with children to help develop their emotional literacy.
